the nose knows

William Kentridge’s staging of Shostakovich’s 1930 opera The Nose (based on Gogol’s short story) opened on Friday at the Met. If I were in New York, I would see this one. There’s a great review in the Times, and over at More Intelligent Life, Vivian Schweitzer talks to Kentridge about his work.

Everyone throws in their two cents over at the Times’ art blog.
